Stand Strong with us during Art & Wine Festival

1/24/2018

One of the artists joining me for the festival (Friday-Sunday, Jan. 26-28) is my sister, Sharon Casey. She is known for her massive modern art quilts, but occasionally will relax with small functional pieces and let her whimsy run wild.

Stop by my studio gallery during the Art & Wine Festival and check out the little quilted purses she's made for our event. She'll be there – with her sewing machine – demonstrating and talking about making quilts.

Purchase a little handmade zip-purse and we'll donate $5 to Stand Strong, the new name for the Women's Shelter in San Luis Obispo, Ca. Items purchased during our event get an additional 15% discount too! (These little purses retail for $35, so it's only $29.75 plus tax with the event discount.)

If you can't make it to the event and would like a piece, just shoot me an email and we'll pick one out for you.

Visit us during The Handmade Show

1/17/2018

If you're in the area, please visit us during the “The Handmade Show” from Jan. 26-28. The event will be held at my new location at 1601 Main Street in Cambria, across from Allocco's Bakery and Black Cat Restaurant.

While the gallery is a participating merchant in the Art and Wine Festival that weekend, the show also is open to the public at large.  All visitors are welcome to watch the demonstrations, shop and talk with the artists.

I will have new work in the sales gallery and also will be demonstrating wheel-throwing and decorating techniques on all three days. Here is more info on the other three artists:

Paul Schmidt is a former computer systems engineer who now enjoys “coaxing” wood and plant materials into his woodcarvings and works of art. He’ll be showcasing new pieces and also demonstrating the making of his pine-needle baskets.

Franz Affentranger will be showcasing his newest collection of handmade bistro tables. Affentranger, a dairy farmer in the central valley, is a part-time Cambria resident and has become known for the award-winning scarecrows he’s made for Cambria’s annual Scarecrow Festival.

Sharon Casey, a maker of contemporary art quilts, will be bringing a new line of quilted housewares and fashion accessories exclusive to this event. We are so honored to have her join us this year. Several of her pieces are on national exhibition but she will be bringing brand new pieces for display.

On a mug-making mission!

1/4/2018

Big thanks to all of you who purchased mugs during my annual "Mug-Mania & More" online shipping event in December. It was a wild day! In addition to all the pieces sold when the online store launched, many of you "special ordered" mugs.

The event was a near sell-out on the first day, and I've been making "Special Order" mugs ever since! Each one is handmade and hand-etched, a process that requires individual attention to each mug.

With the first group of special orders coming out of the bisque firing today, I'll begin the glazing process and final-firing. In the meantime, I've started the second group of special orders and have another three weeks in the cycle ahead of me.

It's an honor and a privilege to be making these pieces! Thank you all so much!
