This series explores memory and the nature of time.
I use icons such as the paper airplane to illustrate movement through time, and transitions of color and pattern to show stages and milestones. Map-making marks and graphics provide further visual interest.
Most pieces begin on the wheel, and are then altered. When the piece is “leather-hard,” I add blocks of color, and etch into them to create the woodcut-style designs and illustrative etchings.
Pieces are further decorated and then glaze fired, with non-toxic lead-free glazes. Functional pieces are food-safe.
